The RNode is a portable radio module that connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth, enabling encrypted mesh communication wherever you go. Pair it with the Sideband app and you have a complete off-grid messaging system.
Built on the Reticulum Network Stack, the RNode creates resilient local and wide-area networks independent of cell towers and internet infrastructure.

Portable power: The internal 2000mAh battery provides approximately 12 hours of runtime, making it ideal for travel, camping, hiking, concerts, and go-bags. Battery life varies based on transmit power, network configuration, and traffic volume.
Durable construction: The 3D-printed ASA housing is more impact resistant, heat resistant, and UV resistant than standard ABS plastic.
Flexible connectivity: Connect via Bluetooth or serial over micro-USB (USB-C adapter included). Charges via micro-USB.
Built-in display: The 64 × 128 pixel OLED screen shows device status at a glance.

The simplest way to get started is with the Sideband mobile app.
Android: Check out the RNode Quick Start Guide to get started. Download the APK from the latest release page, or install through F-Droid by adding the Between the Borders repository. When installing directly, you may need to adjust your phone's settings to allow installation from unknown sources.
